Dr. Hesham El Naggar is a Distinguished University professor and a world leader in foundation dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering. He is an elected Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada and the American Society for Civil Engineers. He is Editor-In-Chief of International Journals of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, and Urban Resilience and Earthquake Engineering. He advanced the state-of-the-art in analysis and design of foundations for dynamic loads. He published more than 800 technical papers and book chapters including 525 papers in selective and prestigious journals (19820 citations, H71, i386). Dr. El Naggar graduated more than 180 PhD and Master students. In recognition of his outstanding research contributions, He received many prestigious awards including the Cross-Canada Lecture Tour, Geosynthetics, Meyerhof and Canadian Geotechnical Colloquium Speaker Awards from the Canadian Geotechnical Society and the Ontario Professional Engineers Medal for Engineering Research & Development.

Professor Wenbing Wu received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2012. After completing his doctoral studies, he carried out postdoctoral research at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Western University in Canada, and Guangxi University. He joined China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2012 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2018. He currently serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and as a Ph.D. supervisor. Professor Wu’s research interests include pile foundation testing technology, soil-structure interaction, and sustainable construction methods. He has led and contributed to more than 20 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published 88 SCI-indexed papers, including 11 ESI Highly Cited Papers, as well as 48 EI-indexed papers, and holds 32 national patents and 2 international patents. Professor Wu is actively engaged in academic service. He serves as an Associate Editor of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Vice Chair of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Vice Chair of the Youth Working Committee of the Geotechnical Engineering Division of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering, and a member of the TC207 Technical Committee of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He is also a member of the Geotechnical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Society for Hydraulic Engineering. In 2023, he was selected for China’s National High-level Young Talent Program.

Prof. Yang Wei’s main research field is building life cycle assessment and design, and sustainable evolution of the built environment. She is leading a research group on ‘carbon neutral building design, construction and operation’. She is also the deputy director of Tianjin Municipality Key Laboratory on Building Environment and Energy. Yang Wei holds the professional Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Architecture and the Doctor of Engineering from Tianjin University. She studied at Karlsruhe University (KIT) from 2003-2005 as a visiting PhD student, and visited ETH Zurich in 2010 as a guest researcher. She is member of the UIA Sustainability Commission and the national participant from China in the IEA EBC Annex72 and Annex89 projects. She is also the member of the Green Building Committee and International Cooperation Committee of China Architect Association, and member of the Resource Flow and Management Committee of China Natural Resource Association. She has been the PI for several national level research projects. Her recent research projects are on the design methods of life cycle zero carbon buildings and the renewal strategies of the urban and rural building stocks towards carbon neutrality. She has been teaching the design studio on ‘building in life cycle’, which concerns the sustainability of the built environment, especially the climate responsive and resource conservation design strategies. Her seminar course (taught in English) on ‘Built environment in a Resource Conservation Perspective’ introduces the theories and analytical methods of the environmental, economic and social-cultural issues during the evolution of the urban building stocks. She led the TEAM Tianjin U+ to design and build the zero-carbon solar house prototype, RCELLS, in the Zhangbei County in north China, which won the championship in the 3rd Solar Decathlon China competition (SDC2022), with 8 first prizes in the 10 sub-contests. Together with her collea gues, she won the 2nd prize in China’s National Award for Higher Educational Achievement, and the honorable mention in the 2023 UIA Innovation in Architectural Education Award

Dr. Faisal Manzoor Arain is an experienced academic leader and construction project management professional with an MS and PhD in Construction Project Management. He has extensive experience working in management and leadership positions in industry and academia in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Canada. Dr. Arain completed a Leadership Development Program from Harvard University, Boston. He successfully led the development of numerous baccalaureate and diploma programs, including Canada’s first Bachelor of Science in Construction Project Management degree at SAIT, Alberta. He was appointed by the Saskatchewan Higher Education Quality Assurance Board (SHEQAB), Government of Saskatchewan, as the chair of the quality review panel for new baccalaureate degree program evaluation and also participated in institutional review. Dr. Arain has a wealth of technical knowledge and experience, as he has worked in numerous professional roles as an Architect, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Director Projects, and Consultant within the construction industry in Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Canada. He has also consulted, researched and published widely in the disciplines of Project Management, Architecture and Design and Construction Management. Dr. Arain serves on the editorial boards of several international research journals. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Construction Project Management, published by Nova Science Publishers Inc., USA. He has also served as director on a couple of national and provincial level professional boards, including Value Analysis Canada, Canadian Green Building Council, and Alberta Centre of Excellence for BIM. Dr. Arain also served as the Chair of INTBAU Canada. He is a recognized plenary and keynote speaker at international conferences and is regularly invited to speak as an expert across professional and academic platforms worldwide. Dr. Arain worked as Chair, Construction Project Management with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Calgary, Alberta. He served as the Associate Dean of the School of Sustainable Building and Environmental Management at NAIT, Edmonton, Alberta. He also assisted Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Regina, SK, by providing educational, administrative and strategic leadership for a new baccalaureate degree program in construction management. Dr. Arain worked as the Senior Principal/Senior Dean, Niagara College (NC) Campuses in KSA. He served as Vice President Academic at post-secondary institutions in Alberta and Ontario, and most recently, as the President of Willowbank School of Restoration Arts. Dr. Arain is currently the CEO and Co-founder of AM Management Global Inc., Alberta.

Ahmed Godat obtained his MSc in Structural Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and his PhD from the University of Sherbrooke (Canada). His doctoral dissertation examined the Numerical Modelling of Externally Shear−Strengthened Reinforced Concrete Beams using Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP). In 2010, he joined the Development and Research in Structures and Rehabilitation (DRSR) group at the École de technologie supérieure (Canada). He also served as a part-time lecturer at Concordia University (Canada), teaching Structural Analysis I and Structural Analysis II courses. His research interests include the finite element simulation of structures, and the use of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) for civil engineering applications. He has published over 65 technical papers in these areas. Dr. Godat received the Mirko Ros Medal for the best CICE2008 conference paper in Zurich, Switzerland. Recently, Dr. Godat was awarded the Excellent Presentation Prize at the 3rd International Civil Engineering and Architecture Conference, Kyoto (Japan), 17-20 March 2023, and the Best Paper Award at the 2nd International Conference on Civil Engineering: Innovations & Advancements (ICCEIA 2025), Paris (France), 21-23 August 2025.

Dr. Xiaoyan Sun is a distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Zhejiang University (ZJU), China. She is a key member of the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, where her research focuses on advancing sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Dr. Sun’s primary expertise lies in 3D-printed concrete, structural health monitoring, and the performance assessment of concrete structures under environmental stress. She is widely recognized for her innovative work in material science, particularly in the utilization of industrial by-products—such as ferrochrome slag and recycled glass—to develop eco-friendly construction materials. Her academic journey includes significant international exposure, including research collaborations with the University of California, Berkeley, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Tsinghua University. Dr. Sun has authored numerous high-impact papers in journals such as Engineering Failure Analysis and Construction and Building Materials. Her work often bridges the gap between digital fabrication and structural durability, making her a leading voice in the digital transformation of the construction industry. Beyond her research, she is a dedicated educator, mentoring the next generation of engineers in the development of "smart" and sustainable cities.

Dr. Essam Zaneldin earned his PhD from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 2000. Dr. Zaneldin is a registered professional engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canada. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the UAE University specialized in sustainable materials, and construction engineering and management. In addition to his experience in the academia, Dr. Zaneldin has more than 15 years of professional work experience in the construction industry in the Middle East and North America. He has authored and co-authored more than 85 Scopus-indexed journal and conference publications and three granted patents in areas related to sustainable materials and risk assessment and management. Dr. Zaneldin also serves as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences. In terms of research grants, Dr. Zaneldin is the principle and co-investigator of more than 22 internally and externally funded research projects. Dr. Zaneldin received several certificates of achievement honoring his contributions to research at UAE University. He has also chaired several sessions and was an invited speaker at several international conferences. He is also a member of organizing committees for several national and international conferences.

Farhad Yazdandoost received his university education and gained engineering consulting experience in the U.K. Since joining K. N. Toosi University of Technology- Tehran in 1991, he has served as its Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Vice-Chancellor for Research, Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, and the Chancellor of the university. While seconded to industry, he has acted as Director-General of the Research Bureau of the Water Affairs of the Ministry of Energy-Iran. He was later appointed as the founding President of Iran's National Water Research Institute directing research, innovation, and capacity development on different aspects of water resources management and engineering at the national and regional level. Engaging in reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan's water sector and commissioning numerous national and regional research and development projects are some of his achievements, which he later pursued in his capacity as the Director of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management, under the auspices of UNESCO. He is currently serving as the Vice-Minister for International Affairs and Global Cooperation Strategies at the Ministry of Science Research and Technology (MSRT), Iran. Farhad Yazdandoost has authored many scientific and technical publications and has led national/regional research programmes and study projects. He has supervised over 150 postgraduate (Ph.D. and Masters) theses, and his research interests include hydro-climate systems, sustainable development, resilience risk management, urban drainage management, and integrated water resources management. The development of practical toolboxes addressing complex water allocation problems and the advancement of resilient approaches to various water issues have earned him insight into providing knowledge-based solutions to complex problems. He has held leading roles in international learned and scientific associations and has contributed widely as co-editor of globally renowned scientific journals. Amongst his various professional activities, membership of the Council of the International Association of Hydroenvironment Engineering and Research - IAHR, the Council of the World Association on Sedimentation and Erosion Research - WASER, and the Vice-Chairpersonship of the council of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme, UNESCO, may be pointed out.
